Meet the Trainer

Cathal ‘Cal’ Lynch

Cal was born in Ireland in 1975 and knew from the early stages that he was destined to live in America and work with horses.

He grew being around horses his entire life and has ridden quite a few races in Ireland during his days as a steeplechase jockey. His brother Fergal Lynch is one of the top flat jockeys in England at the moment.

Cal came to America in the summer of 1994 and began training out on his own by 1995 for a New Jersey breeder/farm which consisted of him having 20 horses in training at any time.
After a successful stint with this owner cal picked up several new clients such as:

Cal is exceptionally good with young horses as his statistics will show. In the fall of 2001 he won both divisions of the New Jersey futurities for Gunsmith stables with Our Cozzette and for Vienna acres with Parfy’s Legacy.

He is more than capable of getting a horse ready to win first time out which has done many times.

Cal along with cousin Peter is responsible for the daily schooling and training of these horses at the track and getting them ready to run whether this is at Monmouth Park or Philadelphia Park.

The stable which cal has at Monmouth consists of up to 30 horses at one time and as well as 15 at Philadelphia which can be rotated at times to give the horses a change of scenery and a new environment to train under.

There are a few partnerships and syndicates being set up within his stable and would welcome the prospect of new owners to the game who would be looking to have a few horses with his who would be looking to get their picture taken with their horse when it wins.

Cal breeds his own horses along with other owns such as Gunsmith and Vienna acres and he also get quite a few horses at the yearly sales at Kentucky and Maryland which he attends each year with owners looking to strengthen their squads for the summer and fall meets ahead.

He is responsible for breeding the champion 3 year old New York bred filly ‘Sugar Punch’ who has earning of $300,000 this year and won 6 races including 4 stakes.

This truly is a sport of kings.
